TURNOUT OF 61 THOUSAND IN DESIGN WEEK
Organized by Turkish Exporters’ Assembly under the coordination of Ministry of Trade on November 14-17, Design Week Turkey reached an all-time high number of visitors which of 61 thousand 382.
Contributing to the establishment of a design culture in Turkey and the promotion of Turkish designers throughout the world, Design Week Turkey 2019 concluded. Hosted world-renowed designers as speakers, the event attracted a great deal of attention.
In the event which themed as ‘Beyond Design’, participants had the opportunity to listen speakers such as English industrial designer, Sebastian Bergne, Director of London Design Week, Ben Evans, Dutch artist and innovator, Daan Roosegaarde, automobile designer Niels van Roij, President of Taiwan Medical Design Association, Kevin C. TSeng, CEO of International IF Design Forum, Ralph Wiegmann, architecture Melike Altınışık, fashion designer Arzu Kaprol and Hakan Akkaya, and economist Emre Alkin.
During the 4-day event, more than 100 speakers and more than 150 designers, 34 panels and conferences and 53 exhibitions and workshops met with the participants.
With the GOMYAP Workshop, children had fun on the last day of Design Week Turkey.
Within the scope of Design Week Turkey 2019, Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards were also presented. Awards of the winning brands and designers were presented by Minister of Trade, Ruhsar Pekcan and Chairman of TİM, İsmail Gülle.
Turkey's most comprehensive design event Design Week Turkey, brought together more than 120,000 visitors both domestically and abroad with all the creative industries, since it’s held.
Design Week Turkey considers creating the awareness that design identity and economic success of our country can be achieved through the integration of design and industry; also brings together industry representatives and designers and provides a meeting ground for producing value-added products.
DWT’19 program, which focuses on strengthening creative economies, encouraging entrepreneurship, collaborative multidisciplinary projects and rigorous design research between industries, is formed through a comprehensive planning network by both national and international stakeholders.
DWT’19 was held at the Haliç Congress Center on November 14-17 this year with panels and conferences, exhibitions, workshops and award ceremonies in a number of fields including industrial design, fashion, visual communication design, architecture. The event spanned the city and the country, and aroused on a variety of routes and areas, and new ways of exploring the country through design were presented to design enthusiasts.
The ability to design written in our genetic codes for thousands of years has emerged with successful contemporary projects integrated with innovation and technology in all design disciplines and approaches. Within the scope of the event, brands had the chance to develop joint projects with designers, and as well as they had the opportunity to cooperate with universities and institutions.
