TOUR 2022 – STAGE 7
New Zealander Patrick Bevin won the seventh stage of the 57th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey.
Organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation under the auspices of the Presidency, the 135.3-kilometer Gallipoli-Tekirdag stage has been passed on the 7th day of the Tour of Turkey. 153 cyclists from 25 teams participated in the race.
Starting from Gallipoli Fener Park, cyclists passed through Korukoy and reached Sarkoy. The race continued in the direction of Kavakkoy, Yenikoy, Yorgüc, Yayakoy, Cinarli and Kirazli. Leaving Ucmakdere behind, the athletes saw Hoskoy, Gazikoy and Altinova and finished in Tekirdag.
About 30 kilometers from the end of the race, New Zealander Patrick Bevin from Israel-Premier Tech team, France's Arkea Samsic French Nicolas Edet and Belgium's Alpecin-Fenix team Australian Jay Vine went ahead of the peloton for a long time. General classification leader Eduardo Sepulveda, on the other hand, could not make it to this escape and was left behind.
Patrick Bevin, who was not caught for a long time, took the first place with a timing of 3 hours 21 minutes 2 seconds. Jay Vine finished second with a difference of 2 seconds and Nicolas Edet finished in third place with a difference of 4 seconds.
Patrick Bevin took the lead of the general classification in the Tour of Turkey. The 8th and final stage of the 57th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey will be held in Istanbul on Sunday, April 17.
