TEKNOFEST
Taking inspiration from Turkey’s experience of aviation and space sciences, TEKNOFEST İstanbul Aviation, Space and Technology Festival was held in İGA İstanbul New Airport between September 20-23, 2018. Festival, which its event management was assumed by CEO, brought major Turkish institutions, foundations and corporations together.
Including colorful shows and activities, Teknofest had managed to be the 3rd largest aviation event in the world by the amount of 540 thousand visitors in total.
During these 4 days, the sky witnessed many demonstrations at İstanbul New Airport, in addition to shows performed by Turkish Stars, SoloTurk, civil aerobatic pilots, T129 ATAK Helicopters, Bayraktar Tactical UAV, THK Balloons, parachute teams and Police Special Forces’ Officers.
On the ground, visitors had fun-filled times with TÜBİTAK science exhibition, planetarium, Interstellar Space exhibition, wind tunnel, play grounds, fair booths, meetings, concerts and static exhibitions of military and civilian planes.
There were plenty of highly enjoyable activities for every age group in festival. Simulation practices, team-plays and kite ateliers were only some of them that aims to edutain.
Live performances and concerts held throughout day in the main stage that set up in front of the air control tower provided visitors enthusiastic minutes.
Tens of companies in the exhibition area revealed the point attained in the space and aerospace technologies.
Technology competitions for all levels, from elementary school to university, added a different excitement to the festival. 2 thousand of contestants competed 750 teams in 14 kinds of competition categorized from unmanned aerial vehicles to vehicles, unmanned underwater systems to model satellites, technologies for the human benefit to artificial intelligence. Young entrepreneurs and inventors ranking the highest were awarded.
Take Off Entrepreneurship Summit of the more than 600 tech enterprises from 83 countries applied had been a paramount milestone to build an international entrepreneurial ecosystem in Turkey in the field of technology.
The participation and support of Teknofest came from the top level: Our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan landed in Istanbul New Airport with an ATA plane accompanied by F16s. The President participated in the festival with his pilot jumpsuit and honored the award ceremony.
Reaching an uncommon amount of visitors, Teknofest fulfilled the duty of carrying an important mission for Turkey. The most essential goals of festival were Turkey to realize national technology movement and to become a tech-producer society. The intense interest in Teknofest especially from young people was the clearest indication that the festival had reached its goals.

Teknofest had been the third largest aviation festival in the world with a total of 540 thousand visitors in its first year and the second largest aviation festival in terms of daily amount of visitors
QUITE AN AVIATION FESTIVAL
Acrobatic performances of Turkish Stars, Harmandalı choreography of the ATAK helicopter, THK balloon flights, parachute jumps, static exhibitions and many others fascinated visitors for 4 days.
BAYRAKTARS WITH VISITORS
President of the Board of Trustees of T3 Foundation Selçuk Bayraktar and his spouses, Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar, met with the intense interest of visitors while examining the festival area.
EDUTAINING ACTIVITIES
There were plenty of highly enjoyable activities for every age group in festival. In addition to simulation practices, team plays, concerts and aviation shows, edutaining activities also took place for kids.

Considered to be the best air aerobatic team in the world, Turkish stars have left their mark on Teknofest with their unforgettable shows.
TURKISH STARS ABOVE THE BOSPHORUS
Seven NF-5 2000 jets flew by Turkish Stars and a Boeing 777 passenger airplane belonging to Turkish Airlines passed through Istanbul New Airport. Then they followed the route of Historical Peninsula, Bosphorus, July 15th Martyrs' Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge and Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge.
AEROBATICS
Demonstrations performed by Turkey’s first professional aerobatic pilot Ali İsmet Öztürk and the only civilian female aerobatic pilot of Turkey, his daughter Semin Öztürk dazzled the visitors.
THRILLING MOMENTS
The mountain rope choreography organized by Police Special Forces with the Sikorsky helicopter was worth seeing. On the other hand, participants experienced flying in a non-gravity environment in the vertical wind tunnel established in the Teknofest area.
EXTRAORDINARY RACE
Teknofest witnessed an extraordinary race between Kawasaki motorcycle, Formula 1 race car, Tesla, Lotus Evora, Aston Martin and SoloTurk F16 fighter aircraft. Our world champion motorcyclist Kenan Sofuoğlu won this exciting race.
SOLOTURK: EFFECTIVE, PERSUADIVE, ESTEEMED
The star and crescent in the body of SoloTurk symbolizes the national will, the silver star symbolizes the light of victory and the golden eagle in its tail symbolizes freedom and independence.
CHALLENGING THE GRAVITY
SoloTurk moves that become worldwide-famous: Captain Serdar Doğan reduces Black Eagle's speed to 180 km and almost hanging in the air. It continues to push the boundaries with a 30-second toned reverse transition.
