STAGE 1 OF 55TH PRESIDENTIAL CYCLING TOUR OF TURKEY HAS BEEN CONCLUDED
Starting from Istanbul, Ayasofya Square, 1st Stage of 55th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey ended in front of Tekirdağ Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate.
The stage winner was Sam Bennett, the Irish cyclist of BORA - Hansgrohe.
Bennett completed the 156,7 kilometers-long 1st stage of TOUR, between İstanbul and Tekirdağ and topped the all with a duration of 3 hours 32 minutes and 34 seconds.
Following Bennett, the Dutch rider Fabio Jakobsen from Deceuninck-QuickStep managed to be the second while the Austrian rider Caleb Ewan from Lotto Soudal was taking the third place.
Bennett achieved both the eighth stage-win of his TOUR career and the Turquoise Jersey which is given to the general classification leader. Bennett also became the sprint classification leader and thus obtained the Green Jersey.
Feritcan Şamlı of the National Turkish Cycling Team, became the owner of the White Jersey by placing at the top of Beauties of Turkey classification. The Belgian rider Lindsay De Vylder from the SVB-Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise Team won the Red Jersey by placing at the top of mountains classification.
183.3 kilometers-long 2nd stage of TOUR2019 will be held between Tekirdag and Eceabat on Wednesday, 2019 April 17th. The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey will end in Istanbul on Sunday (April 21st).
