ROCKET LAUNCH FROM SALT LAKE UNDER TEKNOFEST
The countdown resumes for the TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival. Under Teknofest, the rockets that students had been working on for months were conveyed to the Hisar shooting Field in Aksaray at the rocket competition, sponsored by Roketsan and organized in conjunction with TUBITAK SAGE.
Within the frame of competition, which was held to increase students ' interest in space technologies and improve their capabilities, the rockets that students had been working on for months were launched into the sky from Salt Lake.
Out of 571 teams that enrolled in the rocket competition, 79 teams successfully qualified to participate in the preliminary evaluation process. Including 4 group of high school students and 12 group of university students, 16 teams had the opprtunity to launch their own local rockets at Salt Lake.
Minister of Industry and Technology, Mustafa Varank, President of Presidential Defense Industry, İsmail Demir, Turkey Technology Team Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman, Selçuk Bayraktar, TEKNOFEST Chief Executive, Mehmet Fatih Kacır watched the rocket launch on site.
Emphasizing the main objective of organizing rocket competitions is to encourage rising generation, Turkey Technology Team Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman, Selçuk Bayraktar said “We aim to raise a qualified work force in this field, coming up through the ranks. For an entire year, these young people dreamed first and then researched, developed and designed prototype rockets. Our journey on unmanned aerial vehicles has begun in a very similar way. Everything starts with a dream.”
