PATRICK BEVIN WINS TOUR 2022!

On the 8th and last day of the 57th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, the Istanbul-Istanbul stage was canceled due to weather conditions, while New Zealander Patrick Bevin from Israel-Premier Tech completed the event as the general classification leader.

Organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation under the auspices of the Presidency, the 8th day of the Tour of Turkey started in front of the Ataturk Cultural Center in Taksim. 149 cyclists from 25 teams participated in the 141.1-kilometer stage.

After the start, the athletes passed through Dolmabahce, Besiktas, Barbaros Boulevard, Ciragan Street, Kurucesme and continued in the direction of Bebek. Returning from Baltalimani, the track continued in the direction of Buyukdere Avenue and Levent and crossed the 15 July Martyrs Bridge to the Anatolian side. After the accidents took place at the 25th kilometer of the race in Kuzguncuk due to the slippery road, the team coordinators asked for the race to be neutralized due to unsafe conditions.

After the meeting, the Steering Committee neutralized the race on the grounds that the risk of an accident was high. Athletes rode the bike in a controlled manner without any struggle in the direction of Bostanci. With the cancellation of this stage, New Zealander Patrick Bevin from Israel-Premier Tech team, who completed the Gallipoli-Tekirdag stage in the first place on the 7th day and took the lead in the general classification, was declared the champion of the 57th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey.

In the general classification, Australian Jay Vine from Alpecin-Fenix team took second place and Argentinean Eduardo Sepulveda from Italy's Drone Hopper-Androni Giocattoli team took third place.
