OPENING CEREMONY FOR KALYON SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES FACTORY
The first and only integrated solar panel production factory in Europe and the Middle East was opened in Ankara with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Before the ceremony, President Erdoğan visited the factory with the relevant officials, obtained information and inspected the whole.
“We are launching this magnificent work of Kalyon Holding from both Ankara and Konya. Best wishes to our country and our nation.”, Erdoğan said and hit the button activating the factory in presence of guests.
The factory has a closed area of 80 thousand square meters, the construction of which has been completed in Ankara Başkent Organized Industrial Zone. 1400 people will be employed in the factory with an investment value of 400 million dollars.
Serving with a production capacity of 500 megawatts per year, the first productions of the factory will be used in Konya Karapınar Solar Power Plant with a total installed power of 1000 megawatts, which to be established within the scope of the Solar YEKA 1 project.
Established in the Başkent Organized Industrial Zone, the most important feature of the Kalyon Solar Technologies Factory is that it has all the solar panel production technologies and creates a production system from start to finish. The factory consists of 4 separate sections as ingot (ore), wafer (plate), cell and module. In other words, the silicon entering the production line as raw material turns out to be a high efficiency solar panel at the end of the line.
With the commissioning of the plant in question, the share of solar energy in electricity generation in the country will increase by 25 percent as 2 million tons of carbon dioxide emission per year will be prevented.
An investment of $ 1 billion will be made for Konya Karapınar SPP. The plant will generate 2.6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Konya Karapınar SPP will be commissioned in sections of 40 megawatts every month as of September and will be able to start full capacity production in 33 months.
