MORE THAN A FESTIVAL: TEKNOFEST CONCLUDES WITH A HUGE TURNOUT
Hundreds of thousands of people visited TEKNOFEST İstanbul Aviation Space and Technology Festival in its last day.
The second edition of the festival attracted 1.72 million visitors compared to the first, 550 thousand visitor. TEKNOFEST İstanbul ranked among the top events in its field in terms of the number of participants. Within this scope, TEKNOFEST outperformed the Bournemouth Airshow held in the U.K. in 2009, which hosted 1.34 million visitors.
In addition to the number of visitors, the festival came to the fore with its diversity of activities. While other international festivals were held in certain areas and in a limited concept, TEKNOFEST Istanbul hosted many events in different fields in the field of aviation and technology. A total of 410 thousand square meters of space was used for the events this year.
The enthusiasm experienced in the festival doubled on Saturday, September 21st with Murat Dalkılıç concert. Tens of thousands of people who thronged the concert area enjoyed Dalkılıç's songs.
In the activity tent of Gök Bilim Planetarium, 28,300 people watched movies with the cinema system which features a 360° projection display and provides a feeling of ‘sailing in the depths of space’.
In the movies, topics were featured such as technological studies related to space, new discoveries, applications of inventions in daily life, how to become an astronaut and under pressure trainings.
Throughout the festival, 2 thousand 500 people flew in the vertical wind tunnel at Atatürk Airport.
Within the scope of TEKNOFEST, Take Off International Startup Summit where both native and foreign investors met and Turkish Scientists' Congress Abroad were held.
Visitors to TEKNOFEST, organized for the second time this year, had the opportunity to see Bayraktar Akıncı Attack Unmanned Aerial Vehicle produced by Baykar, the national flying car Cezeri and the prototype of the TF-X National Combat Aircraft produced by Turkish Aerospace for the first time.
In the exhibition area, in addition to the air and land vehicles produced by national and domestic facilities, airplanes from abroad also took place.
The first domestic and national helicopter Atak and training aircraft Hürjet were showcased the festival, in addition to 38 different aircrafts.
The festival was also marked by breathtaking demonstration flights. Demostration flights perfomed by Solo Türk and Turkish Stars amazed the visitors at the event, which lasted for six days. Visitors also enjoyed demonstration flights of Russian famous aerobatic team the Russian Knights, Russian SU-35 fighter plane and MC-21 passenger plane.

Children of all ages, young and old, participated in workshops where they spent time by entertaining and learning. In this year's festival, workshops taking place at the booth of T3 Foundation attracted great attention, such as Space Stones, Robot Coding, Rocket Designing, Fun Robotics, Nanotechnology, Energy Technologies, Electronic Programming, Robotic Coding, Mobile Application and Programming, Aviation and Aerospace.
17,373 teams and 50,000 contestants applied to 19 technology competitions held in 44 categories within the scope of the festival, 10,000 contestants has become finalists. The competitions attracted contestants from all 81 provinces of Turkey and 122 countries.
A total of TL 4 million of financial support was given to the contestants and TL 3 million was given away in prize money to young technology talents.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the ceremony on Saturday (September 21st) and presented the winners their prizes.

Inspired by the experience of Turkey in aviation and space sciences, TEKNOFEST Istanbul Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, was held at the Atatürk Airport from 17 to 22 September 2019.
Co-organized by Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) and the Industry and Technology Ministry, the festival which its event management was carried out by ACF Event partnered with CEO Event brought together the major institutions, organizations and companies in Turkey.
Teknofest drew huge attention of children and young people, with the colorful events and shows that took place.
During these 6 days, the sky witnessed plenty of demonstrations at Atatürk Airport performed by Turkish Stars, Solo Turk, civilian aerobatic pilots, Atak Helicopters, THK Balloons, parachute teams, special force officers and Russian special show teams.
