JASPER PHILIPSEN CLAIMS THE VICTORY IN STAGE 7
Belgian rider Jasper Philipsen of Alpecin-Fenix team won the 7th stage (Marmaris-Turgutreis) of the 56th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey.
151 athletes from 24 teams participated in the 180-kilometer stage, which started in Muğla's Marmaris district and ended in Bodrum's Turgutreis town.
After yesterday's Fethiye-Marmaris stage, Philipsen once again ranked in the first place. The Belgian athlete completed the race with a timing of 4 hours 20 minutes 45 seconds.
The mountain prime gate of the stage was passed at 35.9 kilometers. When new names shone out in the front group, the fight for the prime gate started meters ago. Danilo Celano of Sapura team was the first athlete to pass the door.
In the seventh stage, German rider Andre Greipel of Israel's Start-Up Nation team came in second, and British rider Mark Cavendish of Belgium's Deceuninck-Quick Step team ranked third.
At the end of the 7th day, Belgian cyclist Jasper Philipsen of Alpecin-Fenix team wore the green jersey that the best sprinter captures.
The white swimsuit representing the beauties of Turkey was awarded to Ivar Slik, the Dutch athlete of the Dutch team Abloc, and the red swimsuit which is claimed by the best climber, was given to Ukrainian rider Vitaly Buts of Salcano Sakarya BB.
