DELIVERY AND GRADUATION CEREMONY OF AKINCI TIHA
The Delivery and Graduation Ceremony of Bayraktar AKINCI TIHA (Assault Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), which was developed by Baykar through domestic and national resources, was held within the scope of the AKINCI project carried out under the leadership of the Presidency of Defense Industries.
President Erdoğan signed two Akıncı TIHA vehicles, which were kept ready on the runway before he arrived at the ceremony site.
Baykar Technology Leader Selçuk Bayraktar said: “After sending AKINCI off to the army today, we can say with much greater confidence that we can now build our assault unmanned aerial vehicle.”
Stating that AKINCI will be used in more strategic missions Selçuk Bayraktar said: “These vehicles can carry a much wider range of ammunition families. It can carry all ammunition, including air-to-ground, cruise missile, air-to-air. The task capacity is very high. With other aircrafts, you can do missions that cannot be done with manned planes due to the fact that they are unmanned.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony for Akıncı TİHA to be included in the TAF inventory, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said: “Together with Akıncı TİHA, Turkey has become one of the three most advanced countries in the world in this technology.”
President Erdoğan highlighted that it is one of the greatest achievements in the history of the Republic to bring the defense industry, which has a locality rate of around 20 percent, to 80 percent in such a short time.
Right after watching Bayraktar Akıncı TİHA's taxi, take-off and low flight, President Erdoğan entered the control center of the aircraft and made inspections.
