WORLD ENERGY CONGRESS: 'EMBRACING NEW HORIZONS'

One of the activities carefully monitored at global level in 2016 was the 23rd World Energy Congress. The conference, whic h energy problems and solutions were discussed in a global perspective, gathered representatives of countries that forceful in the energy field of the world, in İstanbul.

 

 

After 1977, the second time in Istanbul under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the hostage of Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak, important decisions were made in the conference to guide the future of energy.

 

 

As global actors of the energy sector, international companies showed a great interest to the congress. Gazprom, BP, Saudi Aramco, TOTAL, Socar, Lukoil, EDF, ENGIE, E.ON, Royal Dutch Shell were among the giant energy companies participated in the congress. Along with the energy ministers, many of delegates from business, finance and academic community also took part. The congress, which attracted attention from all around the world, hosted more than 250 speakers, 1,200 foreign media members, 3 thousand delegates and more than 10 thousand participants.

 

 

OPEC Secretary-General Muhammad Barkindo and the presidents of the leading energy supplier countries also held important meetings at this summit. The President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had their family photo taken.

 

 

The motto of the congress, which has been one of the most important global organizations of CEO Event as a consortium in 2016, was determined as 'Embracing New Horizons'. The slogan, which emphasized the goal of congress, was intended to strengthen the future expectations for global cooperation in the field of energy.

 

 

The World Energy Council, in its message on the occasion of the congress, called on the global energy sector to take action against climate change, pointing out that there is not enough effort to reduce carbon emissions.
